Dear Participant
Welcome to “ V International Scientific and Practical Online Conference
titled "MIDWIVES: CRITICAL IN EVERY CRISIS ". I thanks  and delighted to invite you to.
This conference is in cooperation with The Darkhan-Uul Medical School of Mongolian National University of Medical Sciences and Ege University Faculty of Health Sciences, Midwifery Department. With this cooperation; we will have realized the Internationalization mission of Ege University.
The purpose of the conference is for exchanging and sharing ideas and experiences on scientific and practical issues of reproductive health among midwives, OB/GYN practitioners' academicians and lecturers.
Celebrations take place every year on May 5th on the International Midwives Day in line with the main theme determined by the International Confederation of Midwives (ICM). The main theme determined this year is " MIDWIVES: CRITICAL IN EVERY CRISIS”
There are changes and crises in the world due to many reasons such as climate change, globalization, changing population structure. New crisis environments emerge every day due to conflicts, the effects of climate change, etc. These emerging crises have begun to affect human health, therefore public health, and the future of societies.
As ICM also states; midwives are of critical importance in these times of crisis. Sexual, reproductive, maternal, newborn and adolescent health services can be provided even during humanitarian crises. Midwives;
•    protect maternal and newborn health by providing prenatal, perinatal and postnatal care,
•    They can provide care to victims of gender-based violence in the world.
•    conduct effective family planning services to protect against unwanted pregnancies and their negative consequences.
•    Their basic duties are to terminate unwanted pregnancies in safe conditions and to protect reproductive health.
•    They ensure that newborns are fed safely, cleanly and reliably by supporting and encouraging breastfeeding.
•    They educate and provide consultancy with the information and tools that societies need to stay healthy in crisis and emergency situations.
•    They advocate for women and their newborns in every environment.
The people who provide these services are midwives. For these reasons, importance should be given to midwives and their education. The power of midwives should be supported and developed.
Midwifery is extremely important one of the oldest professions in history, and once again emphasizing the importance of leading midwives in the realization of qualified midwifery practices.
I think that the conferences prepared with the contributions of national and international scientists will contribute to professional development as well as sharing the knowledge and experiences of different countries with the studies of the researchers.
I congratulate and thank everyone who contributed to the organization of the meeting in this process. I hope it will be a successful meeting.
With his wish that such collaborative organizations that will contribute to the development of the midwifery profession will continue in the following years.
Yours sincerely and respectfully.
